Collection of tips

First Startup

  1. Windows Updates: The first thing you should do when setting up the device is Windows Updates. You can find them by using the search menu at the bottom, typing in updates, and selecting Check for updates. Select Check for updates on the right and let every update download and install before selecting Restart.
    • When you restart and come back, repeat this process to make sure there’s nothing left to update.
  2. Armoury Crate Updates: When all the Windows updates are done, open Armoury Crate > Settings > Update Center > Check for Updates. Then select Update All/Update until everything is updated and greyed out.
    • You will need to be connected to power for some updates, and you also may need to reboot a few times. Keep checking for updates until none are left.

General

  • Turn off CPU boost: Open Armoury Crate > Settings > Performance > Eco Assist > CPU Boost OFF.
  • Turn off Core Isolation: From the search menu at the bottom of Windows, type “core isolation” and select it. Set Memory Integrity to OFF.
  • Turn off Armoury Crate launching at startup: Open Armoury Crate > Settings > General > About > Run Armoury Crate SE at system startup to OFF.
  • Turn off widgets (swipe from left pullout menu): Open Command Prompt (Admin), type winget uninstall “windows web experience pack” and then Y to agree. That’s it!
  • Turn off Vari-bright: Open AMD Adrenalin > Gaming > Display > Vari-Bright set to DISABLED.
  • Proper setup of RIS: Open AMD Adrenalin > Gaming > Graphics > Radeon Image Sharpening > Enabled & Percentage set to 80 (feel free to change to your liking).

EmuDeck

Playnite

  • Highly recommend installing Playnite as a frontend, and ReMiX is an awesome theme: https://github.com/zeroantix/ReMiX.
  • If you want Playnite to load faster on startup, do the following:
    • Playnite Settings > General > uncheck Launch Playnite when you start your computer
    • Windows start menu > gpedit.msc (Edit Group Policy) > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Logon > Run these programs at user logon. Open it and change to Enabled. Under Options, select Show… beside Items to run at logon. In the field, write the path to your Playnite.FullscreenApp.exe file (find where you installed Playnite, right click that exe, copy as path and paste it here). Click OK bottom right and then Apply, then OK. Restart your PC and Playnite should automatically popup and quickly when Windows loads in.
