Installation

Download the APK onto your Android device. Open it.

Allow any popups, you may get one about unknown sources.

Click Get Started, then Grant Permissions for anything it asks.

Select User Folder and you want to create a new folder called Citra, just on your internal storage. Use that folder.

Now we need to select our 3DS ROM directory. Basically, navigate to the folder that has all your 3DS ROMS. For obvious legal reasons, I can’t point you towards where ROMS are, but a good start would be Reddit and the ROMS subreddit.

Let it scan your 3DS games, it’ll take some time if you have a large library.

Click the three dots top left, Settings, then Gamepad and now map your controls for 3DS. I personally use Swap Screen on L3.

Head back and into Graphics, change OpenGLES to Vulkan and enable Asynchronous Shader Compilation.

Feel free to also change the internal resolution if your device can handle upscaling.

Jump into any game from the main screen and if you use Android’s back button, or the back button on your device (if it has one), it’ll open the Citra in-game menu.

You can Load State, Save State and more.

Head to Overlay Options, and uncheck Show Overlay to remove the on-screen controls.
